My father’s frequent postings as an Army Officer had me changing school every 2-3 years and from this experience I find myself eligible to comment on how difficult it can be for any student to adjust to a new school with new teachers and friends.
“But this was going to be different.”
I entered my 9th school B.G.S.I.P.S., Delhi to finish the last two years of my schooling with anticipations of a successful stay here as a senior student. The very first day here and I was settled. The B.G.S. fraternity accepted me like one of their own and soon I was an integral part of it. It is not mere praise or appreciation but fact that the most eventful and memorable years of my school life were here.
Soon after starting here, I was being assigned duties and responsibilities which a ‘new student’ would never expect. By my experiences- it was not earlier than a year that the teachers, let alone your principal, remembered your name in any school. But just like I said, ‘B.G.S. was different’. B.G.S. made me stand out of the crowd, honed and nurtured the skills which I today proudly carry as assets. Not to mention the loving and understanding care of my teachers and principal ma’am. They raised me as their own and shared responsibility for all my successes and failures.
It was here that I got opportunities to compete and excel. And even though I failed at times, never did I see hesitation in my teachers in handing me another task. They trusted me and believed in me and it is all credit to them that I learnt a lot in life, and also to be responsible and committed.
The 2 years here would not have flown by like a wisp of wind, had it not been the cool, ‘chilled-out’ atmosphere.
Not one day I remember that I saw the door to our Principal, Ms. Punam Gupta’s office closed. There was no restriction whenever you wanted to meet her, for advise, help or just a frank chat at times.
B.G.S.I.P.S – it gave me all I asked for. It brought me opportunities never expected. It helped me change for the better into what I am today. It’s given me memories and presents, I can spend my life with.
Thank you B.G.S., Principal ma’am and all my teachers,
Yours truly, sincerely, forever…….
